Eraldo Affinati
Writer and Teacher
A writer and teacher, Eraldo Affinati is the co-founder, together with his wife Anna Luce Lenzi, of the Penny Wirton school for the teaching of the Italian language to immigrants free of charge. Among his notable works are Campo del sangue (Mondadori, 1997), which was shortlisted for the Campiello Prize and a finalist for the Strega Prize, and Un teologo contro Hitler: Sulle tracce di Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Mondadori, 2009), La città dei ragazzi (Mondadori, 2008), Elogio del ripetente (Mondadori, 2013), L’uomo del futuro, and also Sulle tracce di Don Lorenzo Milani (Mondadori, 2016), Il Vangelo degli angeli (HarperCollins, 2021), Delfini, vessilli, cannonate. Also Autobiografia letteraria (HarperCollins, 2023) and Le città del mondo (Feltrinelli, 2024). Affinati has won several prizes for his novels, including the Volponi, Pavese, and Flaiano Awards.
