MAN
Art Museum Province of Nuoro
The MAN opened its doors to the public in 1999 in a 1920s building which once housed the Provincial Authorities, in the heart of the historic centre of Nuoro. The Museum is a permanent public institution, unique in Sardinia, dedicated to the study, conservation, and promotion of modern and contemporary art. The Museum pursues its cultural objectives through various activities occurring both within it and across the territory. These include the creation of exhibition projects focused on contemporary visual languages and art history from the 19th to the 21st century, the enhancement of Sardinia’s heritage collection (featuring artworks from the 20th century to the present day), and the development of training, mediation, and educational programmes for all audiences. The idea is to introduce an “open museum”, a permanent workshop dedicated to artistic analysis and experimentation, a production and communication space where tradition and innovation, research and disclosure, global thinking and local action can meet and co-exist.
