Milena Agus is a writer. She was born in Genoa to Sardinian parents and, at the age of 10, she moved to Sardinia with her family. Since then, she has lived in Cagliari, where she taught Italian and History in high schools. She is the author of eight novels: While the Shark is Sleeping (2005), From the Land of the Moon (2006, finalist for the Strega and Campiello prizes), Ali di babbo (Daddy’s Wings, 2008 ), La contessa di ricotta (The Countess of Ricotta, 2009), Sottosopra (Upside Down, 2012), Terre promesse (Promised Lands, 2017), and Un tempo gentile (A Gentle Time,
2020). All published by Nottetempo and winners of numerous awards, these novels have been translated into more than twenty languages. Agus co-authored with Luciana Castellina Guardati dalla mia fame (Beware of My Hunger), published in 2014, also by Nottetempo. In 2016, French director Nicole Garcia adapted From the Land of the Moon into a film starring Marion Cotillard. Notte di vento che passa (Night of Passing Wind, Mondadori, 2024) is Agus’ latest novel.
